Kennedy Hall, Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent’s Park Road, London, NW1 7AY
Saturday 3rd June, 2023. Doors open 6:30pm with a 7pm start.
This fun-filled performance event draws on the twenty-five recently collected oral history interviews for the Sweet Thames project hosted by Star Creative Heritage, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and supported by EFDSS and ten London Folk Clubs. Sweet Thames’ aim was to research, preserve and share the heritage of London folk clubs from their origins in the 1950s, and this performance is a way to interpret and share the findings. The project exhibition will be available to view at the event too.
The evening will take the shape of a regular club night with floor-singers followed by the guest act – delivered by the multi-talented Ewan Wardrop – actor, dancer and musical comedian. Ewan has immersed himself in the interview recordings and transcriptions to create this one-man one hour musical and theatrical show. Expect something folky, familiar, but altogether different.
This is a free event thanks to the National Heritage Lottery Fund and booking is essential.
The show should be over by 10:30pm
There will also be three preview performances in folk clubs across London. To attend one of these evenings follow the links for information:
